How art thou out of breath, when thou hast breath
To say to me that thou art out of breath?
The excuse that thou dost make in this delay
Is longer than the tale thou dost excuse.
Is thy news good, or bad? answer to that;
Say either, and I'll stay the circumstance:
Let me be satisfied, is't good or bad?

That's as much as to say, such a case as yours
constrains a man to bow in the hams.

Writing
I received my B.A. in Writing and Literature from Burlington College, in Burlington, Vermont, and my M.A. in Writing and
Consciousness from the New College of California, San Francisco. I also attended the summer writing workshops at Naropa
university in the summer of 1998. I've worked as an Assistant Editor for Northern Arizona University's Thin Air Literary Journal,
held a number of teaching positions, and currently work as a Travel Guide-Book Editor.
My work has appeared in Twittering Machine, the Burlington College Poetry Journal, Echoes from the Heart: A Poetry
Anthology for Peace, and the New College Review. I am the author of the chapbook We Once Were (Pure Carbon Publishing,
AZ), and most recently, Mastering the Dream (Second Story Books, CA), an experimental novel exploring a young woman’s
coming to terms with the power and danger of her own consciousness.
My recent readings include: Modern Times Bookstore (San Francisco, CA), Moe's Books (Berkeley, CA), Changing Hands
Bookstore (Tempe, AZ), The Smell (Los Angeles, CA), and Evergreen Valley College (San Jose, CA), among others. (For
more information on past readings, please see my calendar page.)
I've also just recently recorded a segment for National Public Radio and KQED's The Writer's Block radio show, with
colleagues Amy Reed and MG Roberts. To listen to The Writer's Block segment, click here.
Photography
My Photography has been featured in Vista Magazine, Photographer's Forum Annual 2002 and Photographer's Forum Best
of College Annual 2005. My photographic Exhibits include the Fountain Hills First Annual Photographic Exhibit (by invitation
only), The Fountain Hills Third Annual Cultural Council Exhibit and Situational Awareness, a group exhibition and fundraiser for
AdBusters Magazine and MoveOn.org (2004). I also have a photograph forthcoming in Burlington College's new literary
magazine The Queen City Review, which will be available in its inaugural edition in November, 2008.
In addition, I pioneered the 'Storyboard Wall of Fame' for the Arizona Lost Boys Center. The Storyboard Wall of Fame
featured portraits of Sudanese refugees living in the United States, along with their stories of personal struggle and redemption.
The Wall of Fame was created in honor of the struggles Sudan people faced due to recent conflict in Sudan, and was intended
to help create a greater sense of community here in the United States where the 'Lost Boys' had resettled.
